IARPA Launches New Quantum Computing Program
The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) has launched a new quantum computing program named Entangled Logical Qubits (ELQ) aimed at enhancing quantum computing's error correction and fault tolerance. This initiative is part of efforts to solve complex problems in physics, chemistry, and mathematics that are beyond the reach of classical computers. ELQ involves researchers from ETH Zurich, Harvard University, University of Innsbruck, and University of Sydney, with support from various laboratories for testing and evaluation. The program represents a significant step towards the development of universal fault-tolerant quantum computing (UFTQC).
